    Sergeant W. J. L. Sullivan. Twelve Years in the Saddle For Law and Order on the Frontiers of Texas. Austin: Von Boeckmann-Jones Company, Printers, 1909. First edition. Privately printed. 8vo. 284pp. 12 plates, plus frontispiece. Original maroon cloth with titles stamped in gilt on the front board and spine. Illustration of Sgt. Sullivan mounted to the front board. Some moderate scuffing to the boards, especially the front board, with some wear to the mounted illustration. Wear to spine ends; corners slightly abraded. Contents sound and generally bright. A very good copy of a scarce work which is rarely offered for sale in the original edition.

    Sullivan recounts his early life and service in Company B of the Texas Rangers Frontier Battalion. Chapters are devoted to the hanging of Bill Longley, the capture of Henry Carothers, the arrest of O. N. Hollingsworth, the Gordon train robbery, the murder of Edd Hartman, and numerous tales of Indian fights.
