    With Signed Card Laid In

Ursula K. Le Guin. A Wizard of Earthsea. Berkeley: Parnassus Press, [1968]. First edition, first state (with faint vertical smudge on title-page). With three-inch by five-inch index card signed by Le Guin laid in. Octavo. 205, [206-208: blank] pages. In the publisher's decorated cloth library binding, spine lettered and front board lettered and stamped in black, in original first printing dust jacket with "Library Edition $3.90" printed at bottom edge of front flap. Housed in custom clamshell case. Page edges just a bit tanned, mild darkening to spine panel, just a touch of rubbing to cloth at spine ends and corner tips, a nearly fine copy in very good dust jacket with mild tanning and creasing to spine panel and a short horizontal closed tear to same. Quite a nice copy overall.

First book of the Earthsea series. Although 6800 copies of the first printing were produced, most copies were sold to public and secondary school libraries and fine unmarked copies have proved to be quite elusive.
