    Description

Thea von Harbou. Metropolis. Berlin: August Scherl, [1926]. First edition. Octavo. 273, [1], [1, blank], [5, publisher's ads] pages. Publisher's green cloth decorated in gilt; original illustrated dust jacket after Willy Reimann. Foot of spine just pushed, head and foot of spine somewhat faded, very minor edgewear. Beige endpapers; somewhat toned. Internally clean and tight, all edges trimmed and stained yellow; top edge somewhat darkened. Dust jacket unclipped but without price listed; minor edgewear, minor chipping to head and foot of spine, spine panel sunned and with light dampstaining, toned, minor foxing. Near fine book with very good or better dust jacket.

A particularly bright and beautiful first edition of this classic science fiction novel, perhaps better remembered by its film adaptation courtesy of the author's husband, Fritz Lang, in 1927.
