Ray Bradbury. Dark Carnival. Sauk City: Arkham House, 1947. First edition, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "For / Jerry Colet! / This first / edition of D. C. / From / Ray Bradbury / With good / wishes! / Mar. 10, 1978." Octavo (7.375 x 5 inches; 187 x 128 mm.). [viii], 313, [1, printer's note], [2, blank] pages. Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered in gilt; in original dust jacket. Spine just barely askew; spine ends softly pushed; spine ends and corners lightly worn; bottom corner of the rear board bumped; spine gilt faintly dulled in the title and with just a touch of wear to the publisher's imprint. Endpapers very faintly discolored from binder's glue. Dust jacket edges lightly worn, particularly at the spine ends, with a few small nicks at the fold edges and a slightly larger chip to the bottom edge of the front panel; rear panel rubbed with some faint soiling to the white background; red ink just a shade dulled on the spine panel. Still, about near fine. The author's first book, one of 3,000 copies printed.
