    John Wyndham (pseudonym of John Beynon Harris). The Kraken Wakes. London: Michael Joseph, [1953]. First edition with the original wrap-around band laid in. Octavo. 288 pages. Publisher's maroon paper-covered boards, spine lettered in gilt, in original dust jacket. Some offsetting to free endpapers along gutter margin (as is usually the case), small stain at lower fore-edge of front paste-down, else a fine copy in nearly fine dust jacket with light rubbing to spine ends and front corner tips, and mild dust soiling to rear panel.

    The author's fourth science fiction novel, the second using the John Wyndham pseudonym. Earth is invaded by beings from another planet who exist under conditions of enormous pressure in the deep sea. Published later the same year in the U.S. as Out of the Deeps with textual differences. Anatomy of Wonder (1987) 3-412.
