    Description

John Wyndham. Re-Birth. New York: [1955]. First edition.

    More Information:

John Wyndham (pseudonym of John Beynon Harris). Re-Birth. New York: Ballantine Books, [1955]. First edition. Small octavo. [iv], 185, [186-187: about the author], [188: advertisement] pages. Publisher's green cloth, spine lettered in deep purple, in original dust jacket. Text block lightly age-darkened (less than usual for this book), a fine copy in bright, nearly fine dust jacket with touch of rubbing at tail of spine panel and front corner tips, 8 mm closed tear at upper front corner tip, and touch of dust soiling to rear panel. A very nice copy of a very elusive Ballantine hardcover.

Post-nuclear war religious dystopia. "An excellent story of an emerging race with ESP, hunted by 'normals' trying to hang on to traditional values, ruthlessly exterminating all deviation." - Brians, Nuclear Holocausts: Atomic War in Fiction, 1895-1984, pp. 347-8. Published later in Britain with textual differences as The Chrysalids (1955). Anatomy of Wonder (2004) II-1298. Berger, Science Fiction and the New Dark Age, pp. 184-5. Sargent, British and American Utopian Literature, 1516-1985, pp. 255-6. Survey of Science Fiction Literature IV, pp. 1755-58. King list, p. 391.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
