First edition, second impression. Octavo. 352 pages; folding map tipped to rear endpaper. Publisher's red cloth, spine lettered in gilt; top edge stained red; in the original dust jacket. [And:] The Return of the King. London: George Allen & Unwin, [1955]. First edition, second impression. Octavo. 416 pages; folding map tipped to rear endpaper; with several tables reckoned within pagination. Publisher's red cloth, spine lettered in gilt; top edge stained red; in the original dust jacket. Spines a just a bit two, latter two titles slightly skewed; boards of Return slightly bowed; covers lightly rubbed with some soiling near the fore-edges of Fellowship. Endpapers with some offsetting and a little foxing to the first two titles; top stain of first two titles faded; Fellowship text slightly toned, page 232 creased at the upper corner. Two Towers with evidence of tape removal on the pastedowns and a bookseller's ticket. Very good overall. Hammond A5a.i; A5a.ii; A5a.iii.
