    Description

    H. G. Wells. The Invisible Man. A Grotesque Romance. London: C. Arthur Pearson Limited, 1897. First edition, association copy, inscribed by the author to his friend, author William Pett Ridge, on the half-title: "W. Pett Ridge / from H. G. Wells." Octavo (7.25 x 4.75 inches; 184 x 120 mm.). viii, [246], [2, ads] pages (note: page 1 misnumbered "2"). Spine toned and soiled; spine and corners edgeworn, binding rubbed and thumbsoiled; hinges repaired; endleaves toned; text toned at edges. Recipient's bookplate on first blank. Binding skewed. A very good copy with a nice association. Housed in quarter red morocco clamshell case. In 1924, novelist Edwin Pugh recalled his time with Wells and Ridge: "I see him most clearly, as he was in those days, through a blue haze of tobacco smoke. We used sometimes to travel together from Waterloo to Worcester Park on our way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening with H. G. Wells." Hammond B4. From the James C. Seacrest Collection.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
