    Description

Frank Herbert. Dune. Philadelphia and New York: Chilton Books, [1965]. First edition. Editor Sterling Lanier's personal copy, with personal notes and annotations, all initialed. Octavo. 412, [413, about the author], [414, blank]. Publisher's blue cloth with white-lettered spine; original illustrated dust jacket. Minor edgewear, edges toned, spine sunned, some soiling overall. Endpapers toned in margins; bookplate of Sterling Lanier and personal ink notes (initialed) to front pastedown. Internally generally clean; edges toned, minor soiling on edges. Dust jacket with heavy edgewear; spine panel sunned, 2-inch open tear in foot of spine, 1-inch open tear in head of spine, chipping in spine panel ends and corners, 1-inch tear in rear flap, front panel creased, toned overall, fragile. Very good book with fair dust jacket.

Perhaps best described in the words of Sterling himself on the title page, "This is my edition of Dune, which I got into print and forced through countless editorial meetings. It is a good book!" And for all of you well-read fans of the expansive worlds of science fiction, Sterling reminds us that "continual use of MAP only key to understanding text."

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
