Publisher's full burgundy cloth, front board and spine lettered in light blue, front board ruled in blind, dust jacket. Jacket spine sunned, jacket with edgewear, including creasing, mild chipping and a few short tears, front flap creased, cloth spine slightly rubbed. Bookplate of film memorabilia and author Malcolm Willits with his signature (dated "8-4-49"). Still, a near fine copy.
    This book was an enormous success and is a cornerstone of catastrophe science fiction. It was the basis of the classic George Pal film from 1951.
