Edgar Rice Burroughs. Tarzan and the Ant Men. Chicago: A. C. McClurg & Co., 1924. First edition of the tenth Tarzan title. Octavo. [vi], 346, [4] pages. Frontispiece by J. Allen St. John. Publisher's light brown cloth, front board lettered and spine lettered and ruled in dark brown, in original dust jacket. Just a touch of wear to spine ends and corners; foot of spine slightly pushed. A hint of soiling to endpapers. Dust jacket spine panel faintly dulled; closed tear of a little less than one inch at upper edge of front panel; addressed with tape on verso; minor chipping to flap folds; front flap fold creased; a few cosmetic scuffs on rear panel with a minor abrasion along the rear joint fold. A nearly fine copy in an attractive, very good, jacket. "In the hardcover first edition, Burroughs restored the original material on the [Tarzan look-alike Estaban] Miranda subplot [which was removed from the Argosy All-Story Weekly], and restored the original wording of the last two chapters... A. C. McClurg records indicated that 10,000 copies of the first edition were printed" (Zeuschner, Edgar Rice Burroughs: The Bibliography, 2016).
