Aldous Huxley. Brave New World. London: Chatto & Windus, 1932. First edition, trade issue. Octavo (7.4375 x 4.875 inches; 189 x 124 mm.). [2, blank], [6], 306, [2] pages. Publisher's full blue cloth, spine stamped in gilt; top edge of text block stained bluish-gray; in the original blue and white illustrated dust jacket. Cloth spine a bit toned and bumped, spine mildly rolled, text mildly toned, a few gutters overopened, some minor occasional foxing. Skewed. Jacket spine a bit toned, some edgewear and a few short tears or chips to jacket edges, some creasing and intermittent wear to jacket panels, two tape repairs to jacket verso. Still, a very good copy, with color on jacket and binding generally vivid. "...[It] remains the definitive critique of the technologically supported 'rational' society, exposing the darker side of scientific humanism. It is a brilliant and perceptive polemic, and the opposing side of the argument has found no advocate of comparable eloquence" (Barron, Anatomy of Wonder, 2-47). Connolly 75.
