    [Mary Shelley]. Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus. London: Printed for Lackington, Hughes, Harding, Mavor, & Jones, 1818. First edition. Volume I only. Twelvemo. xii, 818, [1, blank] pages. Bound without ads, but half-title is present. Contemporary half calf over marbled boards, spine stamped and ruled in blind and lettered in gilt. Binding worn, front joint cracked, front hinge cracked, rear hinge starting, free-endpapers missing, text toned, creased, thumbsoiled, with some light foxing and a few inkstains or markings throughout. Good condition. This is probably the best known fiction from the Romantic Era, and is arguably the first science fiction work in English literature. Wolff 6280.
