Scattered soiling and foxing, most very minor, but heavier on R2 and R3, and with a tear to the top margin of R3 just touching four lines of text. Still, generally a very good copy. First complete English edition of Bacon's De Augmentis Scientiarum Libri IX. This is the valuable Part I of his philosophical work, Instauratio Magna, which was the basis for the organization of knowledge and Bacon's attempt to found the sciences anew. Gilbert Watts of Oxford "was a good preacher and excellent linguist. Wood says he had 'so smooth a pen in Latin or English that no man of his time exceeded him. ' Watt's translation of Bacon's De Augmentis Scientiarum was highly praised on its appearance in 1640" (DNB). Gibson 141b. Honeyman 185. Madan I, p. 217. STC 1167.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
