Holographic correction ("obvious" for "observed") in Wells's hand on page 299, corrected in subsequent editions. Octavo. viii, 300, [12, publisher's catalog] pages, frontispiece and seven additional illustrated plates by Lewis Baumer inserted throughout. Publisher's decorated green cloth, stamped in gilt, black and light green. Covers rubbed with some light soiling, backstrip and upper margins faded, corners softly bumped.
