    First edition. Octavo. [2, blank], [4], iv, 6,10, 186 pages. Complete with half-title.

    Bound in modern brown morocco, with contemporary calf panels affixed to boards, spine tooled in blind and lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands. Some toning, light soiling to text. Overall, near fine. With the bookplate of Jared Sparks, president of Harvard, and with a portion of a contemporary ink note stating this book was a duplicate in Harvard's library and was sold. Also with a short note on Cornell University Library stationery stating that this book was removed from their library, dated Dec. 10, 1980.

    Written by his son, this is the first biography of Cotton Mather and also includes the first listing of his many publications.
