The First Edition of Samuel Beckett's First Novel

Samuel Beckett. Murphy. London: George Routledge & Sons, 1938. First edition, first impression in first issue binding of smooth green cloth, one of only about 718 or so copies so issued. Octavo. [vi], 282, [4, ads] pages. Publisher's full smooth green cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Spine a bit dull and soiled, some rubbing and soiling to binding, hinges just barely starting. Skewed. Still, a near fine copy of a very rare book. One of no more than 718 or so copies printed of the first issue of the first edition (there was a total of 1,500 copies printed of the first edition with 718 or so in the first issue cloth - the remainder were issued later in 1942 as a cheap edition).
    Federman and Fletcher, 25.
