Inscribed and signed by the author on the front free endpaper, "To Tom & Sylvia Roberts / with best wishes / Sallie Reynolds Matthews." Octavo. xii, 234 pages. Photographic frontispiece. Publisher's light brown felt-like cloth with black titles on the front board and spine. Minor dust-soiling to the boards, with the spine a touch darkened. Small tear to the cloth at the spine head. A couple of creased corners, but overall a very clean text. Very good condition. "Ranch life in the Texas frontier as a refined and intelligent woman saw it" (Dobie, Life and Literature of the Southwest).
