First edition. ctavo. x, 113, [1, illustration], [4, blank] pages, four full-page vignette woodcut illustrations by J. J. Lankes integral with the text. Dark green quarter-cloth over dark greenish blue boards, printed gold paper label affixed to front board inside blind-stamped panel, spine lettered in gilt with leaf ornament and Holt device stamped in gilt, in original dust jacket. Spine ends very lightly rubbed, with gentle bump to crown, corners of rear board only slightly bent, paper at bottom corner torn with board exposed. Dust jacket rubbed, folds worn, spine panel darkened with small splash near center, spine ends and worn, top edge or rear panel and edges of flap folds with small chips, with several other small closed tears, top edge of rear flap creased. Eight paper-tape repairs to verso addressing several tears, six on top edge, two along the bottom edge. A near fine copy in an about very good jacket. Crane A6.
