    Description

Robert A. Heinlein. Beyond This Horizon. Reading, Pennsylvania: Fantasy Press, 1948.

First edition. Signed by the author on the title page. Octavo. 242 pages. Illustrated by Robert Breck.

Blue cloth over boards. Currey, in Science Fiction and Fantasy Authors, does not note variant bindings. However, Ahearn, in Collected Books, mentions two cloth bindings: red and blue. Stated first edition on copyright page. Some wear to the binding. A small strip has been neatly cut away from the base of the rear dust jacket flap. Overall, a very good copy.

Heinlein's second published novel, which appeared six years earlier, was originally serialized in the pulp magazine Astounding Science Fiction under Heinlein's pseudonym "Anson MacDonald."

Ahearn, Collected Books. Bleiler, Checklist, p. 97. Currey, p. 232.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
