    Description

Richard Bright. Reports of Medical Cases. Selected with a View of Illustrating the Symptoms and Cure of Diseases by a Reference to Morbid Anatomy. London: Printed by Richard Taylor... Published by Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, and Green, 1827-31. First edition. Two volumes in three, large octavo in fours (12.625 x 9.75 inches; 322 x 250 mm.). xvi, 222, [sixteen leaves], 223-231, [1]; xl, [2], 450, [fifteen leaves]; [6], [431]-696, [twenty-four leaves], 697-724 pages. Plates interleaved with identifying text, not paginated or foliated. Fifty-five inserted plates, most full color, some folding. Red cloth library bindings; spines stamped in white. Edges rough-trimmed. Mild edge wear, soiling to cloth; soiling from removed label at bottom of all boards toward backstrip. Rear inner hinge of all volumes completely split, backstrip and rear board free from text block. Some toning to edges. Purple "Bristol Royal Infirmary" stamps on all titles and half-titles; black "Bristol Infirmary Library" stamps throughout, including the verso of some plates. First volume front half-title worn, chunk torn out of bottom and long tear repaired with tape. Occasional marginal thumbsoiling, short tears scattered throughout text block; some minor offsetting of plates onto protective tissue. Very good. Ex-library copy. An influential work of early medicine in which Bright describes a wide variety of diseases and conditions through detailed case studies and autopsies, including the disease of the kidneys that would come to bear his name.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
