Nauvoo, (IL). Seventies' Library and Institute Association 1 Share Feb. 7, 1845 Rust 39 Nyholm 57 PMG Extremely Fine 40. A rare Mormon note with this being the first example to be a part of our auctions. The Seventies were a priesthood body founded by Joseph Smith, Jr. on February 28, 1835. It was responsible for preaching the gospel to all peoples. The Seventies were also instructed to acquire items for the Mormon library during their travels. Ordinary Mormons could donate books to the library, too. Members who donated books were entitled to one share of stock in the library valued at $5. These stock certificates were pressed into duty as a circulating medium due to a shortage of small change. The certificates were signed by both Geo. A. Smith as president of the association and John D. Lee as regulator. The former was a first cousin of Joseph Smith. John Doyle Lee was an early leader of the Latter Day Saints. He would be arrested in 1874 for his complicity in the Mountain Meadows Massacre that took place in September, 1857. Lee's first trial ended in a hung jury. Lee was later found guilty in a second trial. He was sentenced to death and was executed by a firing squad on March 23, 1877 at Mountain Meadows. This bright example is boldly embossed and was folded into fourths. It is a premium example for the third party grade.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
