[Mormon Church]. [Joseph Smith]. The Pearl of Great Price. Being a Choice Selection from the Revelations, Translations, and Narrations of Joseph Smith, First Prophet, Seer, and Revelator to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Liverpool: Published by F. D. Richards, 1851. First edition. Octavo (8.125 x 5.25 inches; 207 x 134 mm.). viii, 56 pages. Folding plate inserted between pages 24 and 25. Later black cloth, front lettered in gilt; all text block edges trimmed. Minor shelf wear to binding; boards rubbed and slightly scratched. Several leaves throughout, including half-title, title, and preface, mounted on guards; several others with subtle archival repairs disguising small chips and tears at corners and fore-edges; mild soiling scattered occasionally throughout interior; soft creasing to upper corners of a few leaves, possibly from bumping; a couple of extra creases (one vertical and one horizontal) to folding plate, one of which is starting to split and has been subtly repaired; repaired tear at head of folding plate, a little over two inches long and branching a further inch into image. A very good copy of this first edition of one of the canonical standard work in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Flake and Draper 6166; Howes S628.
