A Handsome Illustrated Eighteenth-Century Book of Common Prayer and Psalter

[Bible in English]. The Book of Common Prayer, and Administration of the Sacraments... Together with the Psalter or Psalms of David, Pointed as they are to be Sung or Said in Churches. Oxford: Printed by the University Printers, 1710. Octavo. With portrait of Queen Anne and fifty-three (of fifty-five?) plates inserted throughout. All pages lined in red. Bound in later full dark brown morocco, boards and spine decoratively paneled and stamped in blind. Some wear to binding, especially at joints at top, front hinge reinforced with tape, previous owner's label and bookplate on front endleaves (bookplate on verso of front free endpaper), previous ownership notes and inkstamp on recto of portrait, marginal hole at lower corner of portrait, inkstamp and notation at lower corner of the next two leaves, text toned and lightly thumbsoiled. Plates quite bright. Overall, a very good copy. The plates are quite handsome, including a few which depict events in English history, including the Gun-Powder Plot. From the Anne Calpurnia Morrel Collection.
