    More Information:

Dominique de Colonia (1660-1741), Jesuit and professor of rhetoric at Lyon, first published this work in 1722, a biting criticism of some of the most highly esteemed ecclesiastical writers of the day (e.g., the cardinals Bona and Norris).  In retaliation, the Roman See put the work on the Index by a special decree of September 20, 1749, and the Brussels editions of 1739 and 1744 were the last published in the original state.  Patouillet "corrected" the work in 1752, but this subsequent edition was also placed on the Index, and Colonia's work remained in censure at least until 1900, when Pope Leo XIII's Index did not list it. Caillet 2500 (1752 ed.). Dictionnaire de Theologie Catholique III, 377. Besterman, col. 2146.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
