    Description

Ray Bradbury. The Martian Chronicles. Garden City, New York: Doubleday and Company, Inc., 1950.
    First edition. Twelvemo. 222 pages.

Tan cloth over boards with black lettering on spine. Minor fading on binding. The dust jacket with minor wear at head and foot of spine. Overall fine condition.

Ray Bradbury's stature as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century began with The Martian Chronicles, compiled from stories originally published in popular science-fiction magazines between 1946-49. Viewed as both a short-story collection and a novel, this saga of the colonization of an inhabited Mars by fleeing Earthlings has been called "a book of stories pretending to be a novel" by Bradbury himself. This fine copy of the hard-to-find first edition is essential for the science-fiction collector. From the Robert and Diane Yaspan Collection.
