    Description

The Signed Limited Edition, in the Asbestos Binding

Ray Bradbury. Fahrenheit 451. New York: Ballantine Books, [1953].

Edition limited to 200 copies, of which this is number 116, signed by Bradbury and bound in "an asbestos material with exceptional resistance to pyrolysis." Octavo. 199 pages.

Publisher's white asbestos boards. Lettering in red on spine and cover. Very minor soiling to boards. Issued without dust jacket. A book store stamp, similar in size and shape to the ordinary postage stamp, is affixed to the lower hinge-corner of the rear pastedown. An outstanding, tight and bright copy of this much sought-after limited binding, with just a minimum of chipping to the spine ends. A near fine copy.

The greatness of Fahrenheit 451 rests on Bradbury's ability to involve the reader in hero Guy Montag's slow struggle toward awareness as he moves from "fireman" (book-burner) to rebellious book-preserver and memorizer. Bradbury's assertion of the freedom to read, to speak and to think is memorably expressed in this still-relevant classic.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
