    Description

Lot of Three Antique Maps of Japan From the Perry Expedition. From Narrative of the Expedition of an American Squadron to the China Seas and Japan, Performed in the Years 1852, 1853, and 1854, Under the Command of Commodore M. C. Perry, United States Navy by Order of the Government of the United States, Volume II, Washington: Beverley Tucker, Senate Printer, 1856. A collection of three maps made during Commodore Perry's expedition to Japan. They include two fold-out charts, one of the Pacific Ocean; the other a chart of gales and hurricanes in the Pacific. Each chart measures about 25" x 9". A smaller map, 11" x 9", depicts the coal mines on the island of Formosa. Also included is the original title and contents page from the original book from which these maps were originally contained in. The paper has toned and there is scattered light foxing, otherwise they are in very good condition.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
