    Description

Lot of 8 Antique Plates of English Helmet Armor. From The British Army: Its Origin, Progress, and Equipment by Sir Sibbald David Scott, London and New York: Cassell, Petter, and Galpin, 1868.

Each plate measures 5.5 by 8.85 inches. All plates are in very good condition with the usual toning to the paper and a few areas of foxing. The collection consists of wonderfully executed drawings of various English helmets circa 1100 through 1745. Each plate has a detailed caption giving the origin of the particular helmet and in some cases the original owner the helmet is attributed to. Of particular note is a rendering of a helmet alleged to have belonged to Oliver Cromwell. The set is ideal for framing either singularly or collectively and would make a handsome addition to an office, home library or study.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
