    With Superb Chromolithographs

Dr. Louis Crusius, artist. Three Antikamnia Calendars For the Years 1899, 1900, and 1901 With Superb Chromolithographic Illustrations by Dr. Louis Crusius. St. Louis: The Antikamnia Chemical Company, 1899-1901. Each calendar measures 7-inches x 10-inches, printed on the recto and verso of six cardstock pages and with two mounting holes and string hanger at the top edge. Each calendar is illustrated with six full-page chromolithographic illustrations - two months per illustration (except the 1901 example which has four pages each with three months), and each featuring Crusius's distinctive "Skeleton Sketches". With the exception of some light toning and trivial foxing, each calendar is in near fine condition.

    More Information:

Dr. Louis Crusius (1862-1898) was a surgeon, pharmacist, faculty member of Marion-Sims College of Medicine in St. Louis, and a gifted artist whose unique comical/macabre illustrations grace the pages of these wonderful calendars. The calendars were issued by The Antikamnia Chemical Company of St. Louis, Missouri as an annual Christmas gift to "members of the Medical Profession". Crusius's illustrations were used for five of the company's calendars between 1897 and 1901, and were apparently popular prompting the comment "nothing ever issued by us has met with such uniform and unqualified approval". A rarity, rarer still to find in three consecutive years.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
