    Description

Copper Engravings of Early English Clothing. From A Complete View of the Dress and Habits of the People of England, From the Establishment of the Saxons in Britain to the Present Time, in two volumes, by Joseph Strutt, London: Printed by J. Nichols for J. Edwards, 1796. A selection of three hand-colored copper engravings featuring clothing styles of 14th and 15th century England. Additionally, the original title pages of the book these plates came from are included. Each plate measures 8.25 x 11.5 inches. The detail and finish are quite remarkable. The paper has slightly toned and there may be some very light scattered foxing on each plate, otherwise they are in near fine condition. These illustrations, once framed, would make exceptional decoration for any home, office, hotel or a host of other businesses.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
