    [George Cruikshank, illustrator] Excellent Group Lot of Items Relating to George Cruikshank. Includes: A Slap at Slop and the Bridge-Street Gang. Twenty-sixth edition. Two integral leaves. A satirical newspaper written by English radical writer William Hone with 26 engraved illustrations by George Cruikshank. London, 1821. Folding creases and handling wear. Very good. [and:] Eleven etched and hand-colored plates from Sir Walter Scott's Demonology and Witchcraft (Charles Tilt, 1835), together with six of the plates on an undivided sheet of India paper (individual plates measure 5 x 3.5 inches). Fine. [and:] A proof etching for a work titled The Tower of London by William Harrison Ainsworth. Cruikshank has also etched an inscription and his signature at the top margin of the etching, along with the date "August 10, 1877." [and:] Joseph Adshead autograph letter to George Cruikshank signed, regarding the creation of a series of drawings reflecting Cruikshank's temperance views (likely referring to The Bottle). August 18, 1846. Two integral leaves. Folding creases and some staining. Very good. From the collection of Judith Adelman.
