Leni Riefenstahl. Schönheit im olympischen Kampf. Berlin: Deutschen Verlag, [1937]. First edition, association copy, inscribed by Riefenstahl on the half-title page. Folio (12.1875 x 9.25 inches; 310 x 235 mm.). 280 [281], [1, blank], [1, note on the photos], [1, blank] pages. Publisher's reddish orange cloth, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, front board lettered in gilt with the Olympic Rings stamped in gilt beneath the title; in original dust jacket. Cloth lightly soiled with blemishes to the bottom of the front board and the backstrip; front board with a few minor scuffs; boards slightly splayed; spine somewhat sloped; spine gilt worn in lettering and rules, a few letters worn on the front board; extremities very lightly worn; corners slightly bent. Pages with light soiling to the fore-edge margin. Dust jacket edges worn; crown with a V-shaped tear affecting the author's name, repaired with tape on the verso, a few other minor nicks; front panel creased vertically just to the left of the illustration, rear panel creased near the rear spine fold; light even soiling. Very good. One of the most significant photo books. Utilizing frames from Riefenstahl's epic 1938 documentary, Olympia, some modified, as well as new photographs taken specifically for the book. A beautiful production. Roth, The Book of 101 Books.
