Description
A Superb Photo Album Celebrating Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee
[Queen Victoria]. [Photography]. "V. R./Jubilee./1887" (from
front cover of album). [N.p.], 1887. Photo album with portraits
of the queen, members of her family, and others (some of whom may
be family members of the original owner of the album). Leaves
approximately 7.25 x 5.5 inches. Thirty one photographic cards
(mainly cabinet photos) inserted in sixteen leaves (one appears to
be missing).Contemporary full brown calf over padded boards. Front board double-ruled in gilt, with gilt central text as described above, lower board elaborately stamped in blind with small metal (pewter?) grommets in corners, original metal clasp. Light rubbing to binding, a few mounts with short tears, a few photos foxed. Still, an unusually bright and fine item, with excellent portraits.
