    Twenty Rare Antebellum Nineteenth-Century American Heliographic Portraits

New York: [no publisher given, n.d., ca. 1856]. With twenty mounted oval portraits. Folio. Portraits approximately 8 x 6 inches; sheets approximately 17 x 14 inches. All leaves mounted. Bound into a contemporary album, half brown morocco over cloth boards, front cover ruled in gilt, brown gilt morocco lettering label ("1856") on front board, spine decoratively ruled and tooled in gilt. Printed paper label mounted on front pastedown. Binding worn and chipped, spine chipped, hinges and joints cracked, several pages loose, three images with minor surface damage, some chipping to leaves, one plate with a newspaper clipping affixed to verso. Good. An excellent collection of early American Antebellum photography.
