With 222 Marvelous Early Albumen Photographic Prints

[Photography]. [Edward L. Wilson, editor]. The Philadelphia Photographer. Philadelphia: Benerman & Wilson, Edward L. Wilson, 1865-1888. Twenty-one volumes of this rare early American photography magazine. With 222 mounted albumen prints throughout (many prints with multiple subjects). Years include: 1865 (two copies, one of which is only part of that year), 1868-1871 (two copies of 1871), 1872-1873 (two copies of 1873, one of which is only part of that year), 1875-1877, 1879-1886, 1888. Several volumes bound in contemporary black morocco over black cloth boards, other volumes bound in modern full brown cloth with burgundy gilt morocco lettering labels. Later issues rebound in modern cloth have the original wrappers and ads preserved in the back. Many bindings quite worn, with several boards detached, several spines lacking, loose pages or plates throughout. Generally fair. Despite the condition flaws of this set, the albumen prints are quite attractive, being portraits, views of nature or buildings, and some progressions.
