Number 815 of 926 special edition copies signed by both Carl Sandburg and Edward Steichen. Large quarto. 69 pages plus 49 photogravures, including portrait frontispiece. Original black cloth with gilt lettering and rules. Boards lightly scuffed with minor wear to edges and corners. Some soiling and marking on the covers. Thumb-soiling to a few leaves. Mostly very clean internally. A very good copy. The first major monograph devoted to the work of the great photographer Edward Steichen, written by his brother-in-law, the poet Carl Sandburg.
