Walter Benjamin. Corrected carbon typescript of the essay "Nordische See." [No place: no date, c. 1930]. Original carbon typescript, corrected in Benjamin's hand in nineteen places, and with typed corrections or changes in three places, of this evocative philosophical travel essay recounting a trip by rail and boat to Scandinavia. Inscribed by Benjamin on the first page: "Fuer Egon und Gert" [Wissing - Egon Wissing was among Benjamin's closest friends]. Eight pages, 8.5 x 11 inches (220 x 280 mm.). Pages slightly chipped along the right edge, holes from removed staple at upper left, else a very good example with sheets now protected in glassine bifolium sleeves. The essay originally appeared in the Frankfurter Zeitung (September 19, 1930).
