Philip Lindsley. A History of Greater Dallas and Vicinity. Chicago: The Lewis Publishing Company, 1909. First edition. Two quarto volumes. 510; 433 pages. Illustrations. Refreshed three-quarter leather over marbled boards; matching marbled endpapers; all edges marbled. Titles stamped in gilt on the spine.

This handsome set once belonged to John Howard Power, a noted Dallas businessman, whose biography appears in Volume 2, on pages 139 and 140. The set was later presented by Howard's niece to Dr. Charles W. Simpson, whose name is embossed on the front board of each volume. A presentation inscription on the fly leaf details the lineage of the set.

Condition: Fine. The original bindings have been refreshed by Dallas bookbinder Henry Nuss and the contents are quite clean.

Reference: Jenkins, Cracker Barrel Chronicles 1272.
