Description

Association Copy From Philip K. Dick to Forrest J. Ackerman

Philip K. Dick. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Garden City: Doubleday, 1968.

First edition. Signed with wonderful association, "To Forry / Philip K. Dick" on note-page mounted to front free endpaper. "Forry" is presumably Forrest J. Ackerman, the most famous of science fiction collectors. Octavo. 210 pages.

Publisher's gray cloth with gilt titles to backstrip. Faintly bumped spine ends and a few tiny spots of soiling to top edge. Small spot of puckering to top edge of front pastedown. Amazingly crisp and fresh. Dust jacket is price-clipped and mildly edge-toned. A few tiny spots at top edge of rear inner flap. Lightly rubbed with modest chipping and abrasions to bottom edge. A near fine copy.

    Currey.

    More Information:

Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is one of the seminal science fiction novels, especially in the pantheon of modern science fiction. Strangely, the novel is almost less famous now than the 1982 film adaptation, Blade Runner. Like most film adaptations, however, the quality of the film does not approach that of the book. Dick's multi-textured post-apocalyptic tale of off-world humans and their interactions with human-like androids has been popular since its publication in 1968. The novel has been translated into dozens of languages and referenced in a diverse array of other media, including video games and popular music. Dick's most famous and influential book.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
