[Jules Grandjouan, et al., artists]. Nine Bound Volumes of L'Assiette au beurre. [Paris: S. Schwarz], 1902-1907. Original bound periodicals. Nine quarto volumes. Profusely illustrated. Publisher's light brown cloth, front board and spine decoratively lettered in a darker brown. Boards moderately rubbed with a bit of abrading on board edges near corners, corners themselves bumped. Text block age-toned, hinges in various stages of starting and cracking, bookplates on front pastedowns in all volumes, edges of leaves prone to chipping and short tears, occasional thumbprints on outer margins of pages, some pages and illustrations intermittently mounted on studs. Volume I has hinges sprung whereas Volume IX's text block is detached from casing and laid in. Volume I's rear free endpaper tape repairs. Volume III's front free endpaper starting to separate; additionally, tape repairs on front cover of No. 133 as well as tears along inner edges of pages 2245-2248, with tape adhesives in gutter margins of pages 2246-[2247]. A few leaves excised. Generally, a very good or better set with beautiful illustrations. One of the most important illustrated radical periodicals, and a major influence on Charlie Hebdo.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
