    Two Black Protest Printings. Includes:

[Robert Franklin Williams]. Black America (Summer-Fall 1965 Issue).
    20 pages, including pictorial wraps; 8.5" x 10.5"
    No place; 1965

Published by the Revolutionary Action Movement (RAM), Black Liberation Front. RAM was founded in 1962 and combined the ideologies of Black Nationalism with those of Marxism. Robert Frank Williams became its president in 1964. Williams founded an NRA chapter in Monroe, North Carolina in the late 1950s and called it "The Black Armed Guard" - they were successful in repelling Klan attacks.

The magazine focused on calling for revolution with Williams openly promoting urban guerrilla warfare. Of note in this issue is an appearance by Malcolm X introducing Tanzania's Babu at a Harlem event, and a full transcript of Babu's speech.

Condition: Single vertical fold at center. Toning throughout with some wear; small tear to top cover.

Selma Sparks. A Harlem Mother's Nightmare.

New York: Committee to Defend Resistance to Ghetto Life, 1964

With pictorial wraps with photo of a policeman beating a young black man on the ground. The Committee to Defend Resistance to Ghetto Life was a front for Progressive Labor. The pamphlet tells the story of the case of the Harlem Six, young black men arrested for a murder based on events occurring at a seemingly unrelated confrontation with police at a fruit stand. James Baldwin wrote about the case in "A Report from Occupied Territory."

Condition: Diagonal crease affecting all pages at lower left. Age-toning to all pagers, otherwise very good.
