Collection of 1940-1954 World Science Fiction Convention Programs. An interesting collection of official programs from the World Science Fiction Convention including programs for the Chicago 1940 (the second convention), Philadelphia 1947 (the fifth convention), Cincinnati 1949 (the seventh convention), Portland 1950 (eighth convention), Philadelphia 1953 (eleventh convention) and San Francisco 1954 (twelfth convention). Each program is uniform in size (octavo), bound in wraps with a two staple binding. Besides listing the activities for each convention, the programs are filled with advertisements for fan magazines, book publishers, and other organizations catering to "fandom". Guest speakers at the events comprise a veritable who's who of science fiction and fantasy authors including L. Sprague de Camp, Theodore Sturgeon, and many well-known editors and artists of the genre. All programs are in very good condition. From the Robert and Diane Yaspan Collection.
