Description

    [Texas Republic] Laws of the Republic of Texas Passed at the First Session of the Third Congress. In one volume. Houston: Telegraph Power Press. 1839. Second issue. 8vo. 51 pp. including an alphabetical Index to the Laws of Texas, arranged by a member of the Bar, which Sabin and Streeter list separately. Disbound and sewn; final leaf nearly separated. Light to moderate age toning and foxing throughout. Very good condition.

    Includes a provision for employing friendly Indians, an act calling for the translation of laws into Spanish, and a resolution authorizing trade with Mexicans on the Rio Grande. This second issue also contains An Act to provide for the punishment of Horse Thieves, on page 145. Does not contain the pasted slip of additions as described by Sabin and Streeter.
