    Description

    P. G. Wodehouse. Notes and partial manuscript of A Pelican at Blandings. [Remsenburg, N. Y.]: 1966-1968. Original manuscript. 104 unbound letter-sized leaves, written primarily on rectos in pencil and red, blue and black pen. One sheet partially typed. Many dated. Manuscript leaves somewhat edge-worn; soft bumping to corners; occasional spot soiling, soft creasing; regular mild toning from age. Very good. Housed in a custom cloth chemise and orange quarter-morocco book-backed slipcase, spine stamped in blind and gilt with five raised bands.

[Together with:] Collection of nine letters from and one letter to P. G. Wodehouse, and one manuscript note. [Remsenburg, N. Y.]: unpublished correspondence, 1952-1965. Original letters, signed. Individual stationery leaves, versos mostly blank, some with original envelopes. Primarily typewritten and signed in black ink; some composed in blue ink. Faint creases to letters from mailing; some soft yellowing; one or two tiny spots of foxing at edges; manuscript note rumpled with light scattered speckle staining. Very good.

A Pelican at Blandings is the tenth novel in the Blandings Castle saga, and the final volume by Wodehouse. It would go on to be published in the United Kingdom in 1969 and in the United States in early 1970. Collected by James B. Meriwether, professor of literature at University of South Carolina, from the 1960s to the 1990s. Most of the letters are from Wodehouse to Meriwether; with one to his sister, Margaret Meriwether; two to Marshall Bean, Wodehouse collector; and one carbon of a letter from Meriwether to Wodehouse. A compelling glimpse into the inner workings of one of the twentieth century's most popular authors.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
