James." Octavo. 254 pages. Publisher's bright green cloth, spine lettered in gilt; all text block edges trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Faintest trace of shelf wear to extremities of binding. Text block very softly, uniformly yellowed, with hint of dust-soiling along top edge. Minor edge wear just visible at spine and flap fold ends of jacket; light rubbing visible at spine, front, and rear panels. Very nearly fine. The author's first book, and her first to feature Detective Chief Inspector Adam Dalgliesh of New Scotland Yard.
