Ausburg & Dillingen: Joannis Caspari Bencard, 1695. First Latin edition. Two quarto volumes. [46], 342, [44, index]; [28], 249, [25, index] pages. Additional engraved title page in volume one, title pages in red and black with illustrated printer's bird on eggs device, forty-one large in-text engravings (in volume one), ornamental head- and tail-pieces and large decorated initials. Later paper covered boards with neat holograph ink title and year on spines with small number sticker at heads. Bookplate on both front pastedowns: "Presented to the Library of the Medical Society of the County of Kings by Med. Soc. State N.Y./ D9. 1910". "New York State Medical Association" library and "Medical Society of the County of Kings" library ink stamps on title both pages and few other pages. Boards worn with surface paper loss and splitting at corners; soiling, color fade, spines darkened and torn with backstrip loss, joints cracked; foxing, light browning, some soiling, few corner bends and creases. Volume one: Few small holes near gutter from biopredation, not affecting text. Small page tear in T2 near gutter. Volume two: Front board coming loose, corners of textblock bumped, two small holes in upper and lower half of textblock from front cover to page 161 with minimal affect to text, front free endpaper and title page are coming loose, small chipped gilt sticker of a man on lower margin of first page after title.
