    Original Leaves from Famous Bibles Nine Centuries 1121-1935 Cleveland. Compiled by Otto Ege. Folio, loose in cloth box, very fine condition, with preface leaf, four manuscripts & 56 printed matted leaves, each with descriptive caption.

    Leaves from famous Bibles and Testaments dating from the twelfth to the twentieth century have been selected to illustrate important changes in content and format during this period. Bibles in manuscripts, on paper and vellum; incunabula editions of Germany and Italy; noted versions of the Reformation in England and on the Continent; polyglot texts; epoch-making Bibles, as the issue of the first printed Greek Bible and the 1611 King James Bible; the Eliot Indian Bible; and examples of fine printing, including the work of the Aldine Press, Estienne, Plantine, Elzevir, Baskerville, Doves Press, and Bruce Rogers are represented in this collection.
