    Description

Two Sheets of Detailed Sketches of Members of the Wilder Family from Little House on the Prairie by Garth Williams - Possibly the First Sketches of These Characters He Had Done

[Garth Williams, illustrator]. Two Sheets of Character Sketches. [N.p., n.d., ca. late 1940s]. Each on thin sketch paper and done beautifully in pencil. Approximately 11 x 8.5 and 8.5 x 7 inches. Toned, some edgewear, one sheet has been torn from a larger sheet, though the image is undisturbed. Each initialed in pencil. On the larger sheet, there are four characters depicted, "Almanzo's Pa", "Mother", "Anne" and "Royal [?]". The other sheet features "Eliza". These are very early sketches of these characters, quite possibly the first time Williams had sketched them. From the Estate of Garth Williams.
