    Henry M. Stanley: The Congo and the Founding of Its Free State, A Story of Work and Exploration. (New York: Harper & Brothers, 1885), first American edition, in two volumes, 528 and 483 pages respectively, with over one hundred full-page and smaller illustrations, large folded maps of the Congo contained in a pocket bound at the back of volume one and two, and smaller maps throughout, beautiful pictorial green cloth boards with color illustration and gilt titles, 8vo (6.25" x 9"), slight shelf wear to boards, minimal soiling, corners lightly rubbed and bumped, small old bookplate bound on the rear pastedown of each volume, else a beautiful, tight set in very good condition. The set is housed in a beautiful custom leather trimmed slipcase.
